**Update**
From Friday, July 8th, through Monday July 25th, both our online form and warmline will be paused and not accepting new intakes. This temporary pause is due to an overwhelming backlog of current patient needs. AFO will continue providing funding through our clinic partners and Preterm’s call center—both to cover the cost of abortion and practical support needs.
If you need assistance getting practical support, please contact Preterm’s designated referral line at 216-472-3221 once you have scheduled an appointment. Preterm’s call center will begin taking calls on our behalf on Monday, July 11th. If you call & receive a voicemail, please leave a message & a callback number (one that it would be okay to say ‘Preterm’ to if we get your voicemail!).
Abortion Fund of Ohio works with most clinics in Ohio. They do not provide assistance directly to individuals, but rather provide grants to clinics that, in turn, assist patients in need of financial assistance.
About Abortion Fund of Ohio
***
Founded in 1992, the Abortion Fund of Ohio is only statewide abortion fund and a founding member of the National Network of Abortion Funds. Every person should be able to make reproductive decisions and AFO works to make that a reality in Ohio.
AFO provides financial assistance to help women afford contraception, emergency contraception, and abortion services. While they receive grants from national foundations, most of their resources come from individual donors. They distribute funds to clinics throughout Ohio. These clinics, in turn, use the funds to provide financial assistance to women in need. Since 1992, AFO has helped thousands of women pay for their reproductive choices.
Abortion Fund of Ohio's Community
Some of the women AFO serves are single parents struggling to support their children, many are students determined to complete their education, while others are facing debilitating conditions such as domestic violence, illness, substance abuse, rape, or incest. All deserve to make their own reproductive choices, without jeopardizing their health or future.
Get Involved
The cost of a first-trimester abortion can be more than a low-income family lives on in a month. Women forgo food, risk eviction, and pawn their possessions as they attempt to raise money for an abortion. Some are forced to continue the pregnancy, abandon their education, and stay trapped in poverty. For many women, what may seem like a small amount –often less than $100– can make all the difference, allowing them to afford the reproductive health care they desperately need.
Support AFO as they fight for reproductive justice.
