Instructions
ACCESS provides free, confidential and nonjudgmental information, referrals, peer counseling and advocacy on the full range of reproductive healthcare, with a special expertise in pregnancy options and abortion services. Our Practical Support Network ensures that pregnant people in California can obtain safe abortion services without isolation or delay. When a person cannot rely on their personal resources to get to a clinic, our network of 300 volunteers can provide rides, overnight housing, child-care, translation or other assistance. In some circumstances, our Justice in Action Fund can help contribute to the cost of abortion and also support with costs of travel, lodging, childcare and other logistical barriers to accessing your procedure.
Our services are open to all people living in California, traveling to California, or traveling from California out of state. During COVID, ACCESS has expanded our support to include Nevada residents staying within Nevada for their care. We have limited procedural funding for Nevada residents and cannot at this time provide practical support for Nevada patients, but please call us if you’re in Nevada and in need of procedural funding. Your age, income, insurance or immigration status does not matter.
Call 1-800-376-4636 (English Healthline) or 1-888-442-2237 (Spanish Healthline) or e-mail info@accessrj.org if you need help. You may contact ACCESS even if you have not made an appointment yet. We can help you find a provider and talk through what your options are.
OTHER SERVICES: We connect pregnant people with free and low-cost programs that pay for reproductive health care in California, such as FamilyPACT, Media-Cal or MCAP. We also refer to organizations that can help with other issues such as domestic violence, sexual assault, drug addiction, homelessness, and child care. We work with clinics and volunteer translators to provide services in other languages.
About ACCESS REPRODUCTIVE JUSTICE
The vision for ACCESS REPRODUCTIVE JUSTICE, founded in 1993, was not only to provide information and practical support on all aspects of reproductive health, but to build a community actively working to meet the real needs of people. ACCESS removes barriers to sexual and reproductive health care and strengthens the power of Californians to demand health, justice, and dignity.
ACCESS REPRODUCTIVE JUSTICE's Community
Last year, ACCESS helped over 350 people with referrals, transportation, lodging, or abortion funding. While our bilingual Healthline is one pillar of our work, we also use community mobilization and policy advocacy to advance reproductive justice for all communities in California. We uplift the stories of our callers’ to impact decision makers, educate allies, and train community members to become volunteers and the next generation of reproductive justice leaders.
