About Women on Web [International]

Women on Web, a digital community of women who have had abortions and individuals and organizations that support abortion rights, is a project of Women on Waves (http://www.womenonwaves.org/), a Dutch nonprofit organization created in 1999 by a physician to bring safe abortion services to women in countries where abortion is illegal and unavailable.

An online service, Women on Web seeks to ensure that all women have information about and access to safe abortion. They answer thousands of emails every day in many languages from women around the world, answering questions about abortion procedures and referring women to physicians who can send them the medication for an abortion up until the 9th week of pregnancy.

Women on Web [International]'s Community

Last year Women on Web provided information and referrals to over 5,000 women who live in countries where abortion is illegal and dangerous; over 800 of these women received abortion medications so that they could have safe abortions.

To help break the stigma of abortion, Women on Web invites women who have had abortions to add their stories to its site, I Had an Abortion (http://www.womenonweb.org/listpublish-162-en.html), where over a thousand women have uploaded portraits and shared their common stories.
